Club Rules

Electronic Device Policy

1. The policy of Westchester Country Club is there should be “no noise” with the use of any electronic device except in designated areas. Portable communication devices may be used to briefly review texts and emails anywhere on the Main Club grounds. The Board of Governors will review this policy periodically and make changes that are consistent with the character and tradition of Westchester Country Club. 

2. Portable communication devices are defined as any device that uses cellular phone service or is connected to the internet including, but not limited to, cell phones, smartphones, laptops, tablets and readers. 

3. Portable communication devices may not be used for talking except in the below locations. Talking in these areas must be done quietly as to not disturb your fellow Members’ enjoyment of our Club. 

  • Lockers Rooms 
  • Birchwood House 
  • Hotel Rooms 
  • All bathroom facilities 
  • Automobiles 

4. Portable communication devices must be kept on silent and/or vibrate mode at all Main Club facilities and should be stored discreetly. While portable devises are permitted to be used to review texts, and emails, the Membership and their guests are encouraged to minimize the use of the devices, keep them out of sight as much as possible, not leave them on tables or bars when not in use, and otherwise enjoy the company of their fellow Members and their guests. 

5. Portable communication devices may be used as a camera to take and view pictures discreetly and in respect of fellow Members and their guests. The device should remain stowed away between usages. 

6. Portable communication devices may be used as a listening device with earphones only on the Range and in the Fitness Center. For purposes of clarity, no talking on the device or the use of ringers are allowed in either area. 

7. Portable communication device GPS/Yardage features may be used on the Golf Course. No talking on the device or the use of ringers are allowed on the golf course. 

8. Use of iPads and Kindles for reading and viewing is permitted with no sound.

Dress Code Requirements Sports House Dining and Bar Areas


  • Golf and tennis attire for men, women, and children 
  • Bermuda length shorts for men, mid-thigh shorts, skirt or skort women
  • Solid, dark colored leggings with no prominent logo for women
  • Collared shirts
  • Mock turtlenecks
  • Shirts must be tucked in at all times 
  • Long sleeve quarter zip pullover over a collared shirt
  • Appropriate racquets athletic wear until 6pm
  • Golf specific hoodies over a collared shirt

Not Acceptable: 

  • Tank tops 
  • Bare feet 
  • Beach flip-flops for both men and women
  • Open toe shoes for men
  • Cargo shorts or cargo pants 
  • Bathing or gym attire 
  • Hats for gentlemen 
  • Bare midriff 
  • Blue denim clothing or jeans, designer or otherwise 
  • Racquets athletic wear after 6pm

Dress Code Requirements for Golf Course and Practice Areas

Acceptable Dress Attire:
  • Men must wear shirts with sleeves and collars
  • Ladies may wear sleeveless and/or collarless shirts (properly tailored)
  • Shirt is to be tucked in at all times
  • Shorts and Skirts (no higher than four inches above the knee)
  • Women may wear slacks at any time
  • Approved Golf Shoes
Unacceptable Dress Attire:
  • Spandex, Athletic Shorts and Sweat Suits
  • Golf Hats worn backwards
  • Cargo Shorts
  • Cutoffs
  • Bare midriff for women
  • Blue denim clothing or jeans, designer or otherwise
  • String or Halter Tops
  • Tennis or Swimming Attire
  • T-Shirts and Tank Tops
  • Hooded Sweatshirts
  • Football Jerseys or any type of shirt with printed phrases or slogans
  • Golf Shoes with metal spikes 

Dress Code Requirements for Tennis Courts

Acceptable Dress Attire:
  • White Tennis Clothing is required at all times
  • Colored Outerwear limited to warm-up suits only
  • Sweaters and Sweatshirts must be white
  • Footwear must be white with soles approved for Clay Courts 
  • Footwear must be white with soles approved for Clay Courts 
  • Men and Boys must wear collared shirts only. No T-shirts of any kind allowed for any player
Unacceptable Dress Attire:
  • T-Shirts
  • Colored Caps, Visors or Shoes
  • Cross-training, Running, and Basketball Shoes
